History
More than half a century ago, in 1950, a specialized publishing company was founded whose name, Školska knjiga, which literally translates as “schoolbook”, testified to its mission to publish educational content. During the first year of its existence, the newly founded company published 79 textbook titles, with the publishing plan including 184 titles already in its second year.
Some remarkable figures
Doing business for more than seven decades, Školska knjiga has published over 22,000 new titles and reprints, or 415 million copies. Some 4000 textbooks were published for primary schools, 2500 for secondary schools, 1100 titles for higher education, 1200 handbooks and other literature for teachers, 2000 titles in book series, 250 dictionaries, lexicons and encyclopedias, and more than 210 million copies of professional journals and children’s magazines.

Školska knjiga is the initiator and leader of numerous national projects, ranging from textbooks, professional and scientific literature, books and handbooks dealing with lexicography and culture, to fine literature, children’s books, journals, magazines and other valuable publications.
